Very local resident.

Particular care has been exercised to ensure that records of either species have not been accepted where the observer may have based the identification solely on foodplant association. Separation from the near identical Orange Underwing requires careful examination (note that males are immediately separated by their antennae). Light Orange Underwing appears to be far less frequently encountered than the Orange Underwing, although that is not to say there is no under-recording.
