General comments:
Vagrant - possible former resident

This is a species of Maple-dominated woodland in south-west England. It has more or less vanished from the south-east, though it was never common here. There are no historic Middlesex records and from Hertfordshire there are just four - Haileybury College (Broxbourne) in 1887, the Sandridge area in 1888, Tring also in 1888 and finally Bishop's Stortford in 1940. Apart from a further example in Bishops Stortford in 10th May 1947 there are no more reports until 2013 when the moth suddenly began to appear randomly in light traps across the two counties ... all the modern dots on the map reflect this current potential range expansion.

Recorded in 13 (32%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1887.
Last Recorded in 2024.
