General comments:
Extremely local resident / vagrant

Probably long gone from Middlesex. It was noted at Hampstead and Harefield in 1887 and then the Ruislip area in 1955; there are no other Middlesex records. In Hertfordshire, there are recent reports from Bovingdon Brick Pits and Berkhamsted in the west and from Scales Park and Royston in the north-east - all sites appearing potentially likely to support breeding populations. More investigation is clearly called for. The recent central Herts record is from the Hertford town area and away from any potential breeding habitat. We have not been able to re-find it at historic sites at Wick Wood, Tring and at Chorleywood.
