General comments:
Very local resident.

Foster (1937) lists this species as 'Common in all districts' [of Hertfordshire], but we have noted a steep decline, with only 11 records from 2007 to 2020. This is in line with the national situation. It is a typical hedgerow species and may have several foodplants (low-growing herbaceous plants). A possible cause for decline is very possibly the poor management of hedgerows and the resultant diminishing floral diversity of these habitats.
