General comments: Widespread but local resident restricted to chalk-based soils.
All our records affect the Upper Chalk, the Chalky Boulder Clay and the very few other calcareous parts of Hertfordshire; the species is absent from Middlesex for this same reason. Old MIddlesex records are from Stanmore and Hampstead; neither site is suitable breeding territory and the moths here are presumed vagrants.
