General comments:
Widespread resident.

The Pale Brindled Beauty is one of the earliest moths to appear in the year and is very common in most woodlands. December adults were first recorded in 2004 and have occurred in all years since then. A range of melanism exists - with some examples plain and more or less black, though the more usual melanic form in our area is plain and dark grey.

Recorded in 35 (85%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1887.
