The Waved Umber is superficially similar to Small Waved Umber; July/August reports of Waved Umber may relate to that species, but there is a small but real second generation peak in the flight chart. Overall, this species is Widespread and common, yet it remains undiscovered in several areas where it is surely expected? The relatively un-marked dark brown form fuscata Tutt is occasionally reported, especially in Middlesex.
