Notodonta dromedarius

(Linnaeus, 1767) 2000 / 71.012

General comments:
Widespread resident.

Avoiding densely urban areas. Birch is the main foodplant, though text books tell us that elsewhere it may occasionally feed on Alder and Hazel; these alternative foodplants are likely to be the reason for the presence of the moth in the calcareous northern areas where birches are relatively scarce. There are two generations of adults in each year.

Recorded in 36 (88%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1895.
Last Recorded in 2024.
