General comments:
Extinct resident.

This is a species of open woodland on acid soils, especially heaths, in Britain. An adult was bred from a single larva found on birch at Ashridge in May 1937 by D. Frost. A. H. Foster commented that this was the first record for Hertfordshire. Since then, one was taken at light at Berkhampstead in 1945 and then another at Totteridge on 22nd June 1970. For Middlesex, the only record is from a garden in Pinner in 1963.
