Grey Arches
Polia nebulosa

(Hufnagel, 1766) 2150 / 73.261

General comments:
Widespread but local resident.

The Grey Arches is a common and expected moth in most of our woodlands, but it rarely attends light traps before midnight and so is sometimes missed by those lesser mortals who place sleep before moths! Caterpillars can be beaten very easily from honeysuckle, especially where this forms large clumps on trees, and in the spring may be found wandering around on trunks at around three hours after darkness has fallen.

Recorded in 28 (68%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1887.
Last Recorded in 2024.
