General comments:
Widespread but rather local resident.

In places where this moth is found it can be numerically abundant and several hundred can be caught easily in a single moth trap set in a suitable grassland habitat. However, we have rather few grasslands of any quality and our moth numbers do not even come close to those that can be obtained on moorlands from Staffordshire/Derbyshire northwards.
