General comments:
Extinct resident.

The Sword-grass was formerly resident in the south-east of England, but it has contracted its range drastically and is now confined to northern Britain. It is fairly certain that the Hertfordshire records relate to breeding populations that are now extinct; there are no Middlesex reports..
