General comments:
Extremely local resident. Declining.

Literature records suggest that this species was relatively widespread but over recent years, since about 1980, we have lost it from many former sites and it has also declined in numerical abundance to a significant degree. Given that Wych Elm (the favoured larval foodplant) largely survived the 1970s epidemic of Dutch Elm disease it seems unlikely that this factor alone could account for the observed decline of this moth.
