General comments:
Former vagrant?

Foster (1937) records one example at Berkhamsted, on 9th July 1924 by R. B. Benson. A second was taken at Royston on 1 August 1948 by E. E. Johnson (Entomologist: 280). In reporting the latter, Johnson noted specifically that 'Although Royston is just near the Cambridgeshire border ---.. it nevertheless is a Hertfordshire record'. These are our only records. There are breeding populations inland near Cambridge, where the population is regarded as belonging to subspecies impar Warren and this centre was perhaps the source of the Royston moth, which was probably a wanderer. The source of the Berkhamsted moth is less clear.
