Amphipyra tragopoginis

(Clerck, 1759) 2299 / 73.064

General comments:
Widespread and common resident.

The colloquial name of the moth derives from its habit of scurrying about through vegetation (or in the moth trap) rather than flying when disturbed. It does, however, fly to light traps.

Recorded in 36 (88%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1887.
Last Recorded in 2023.
