Hydraecia micacea

(Esper, 1789) 2361 / 73.123

General comments:
Widespread but local resident.

This readily recognised moth can only really be confused with Butterbur, which is much more localised in its distribution. Records seem to suggest that the Rosy Rustic has always been a fairly widespread and common species and it is a regular in many garden moth traps and is frequently encountered in the wider countryside in grassland, woodland rides and on some field edges.

Recorded in 35 (85%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1887.
Last Recorded in 2023.
