General Comments:
Immigrant/vagrant.

Our records are few and relate to randomly scattered places where the general habitat is apparently unsuitable for residency to be likely. Nevertheless, in view of the fact that several other other species that were formerly noted as immigrants only are now established residents, it is clear that this is a species worth keeping an eye on in our area.

Hertfordshire records relate to one at Digswell on 17th July 1999 (no specimen retained nor photograph taken), one at Welwyn Garden City 25th June 2022 and one on 13th July 2024, in the eastern sector at Hunsdon.

For Middlesex, it was reported by deWorms (London Naturalist 38) as "scarce in the Ruislip area of Middlesex". This relates to a single example caught by E. S. Goodban in his garden at Eastcote in 1940. There are no more Middlesex reports until one at Harefield on 18th July 2014, a male at Osterley Park on 5th July 2019 and then two (one in the car park and one nearby) at Kempton Park on 23 June 2022.

Recorded in 4 (10%) of 41 10k Squares.
