Blotched Emerald
Comibaena bajularia

([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775) 1667 / 70.300

General comments:
Widespread but local resident.

The larval requirement of this species for oak is reflected in the lack of records from the northern part of the areas, where examples of that tree are few and far between. In the mid and south of Hertfordshire the moth is likely to be present in most places, though only rarely does it attend the trap in more than single figures. In Middlesex, it affects the whole county area except the south-east.

Recorded in 32 (78%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1887.
Last Recorded in 2023.
