General comments:
Widespread resident.

Past records indicate that this has always been, as now, a common moth in Hertfordshire. Penultimate instar larvae were found on Common Hawthorn at Kensworth Quarry in May 2003 and on Silver Birch at Birchanger Wood, Bishops Stortford in May 2006 - adults being reared in both cases to confirm the identification.

Recorded in 37 (90%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1887.
