Very local resident.

Bowyer (1888) records this moth from Haileybury School (Broxbourne Woods area) in Hertfordshire; the first Middlesex record is not until 1940 (Ruislip area). It seems the moth has always been rather a scarcity in the area. Today (end of 2023) We have reports of single examples in garden light traps and of larger numbers at a few discrete sites, especially in the river valleys and avoiding the urban zone in general.
