General comments:
Extremely local and declining resident. Species of Conservation Concern.

In the Herts Moth Book, back in 2008, I regarded the conservation status of this moth to be Vulnerable in Hertfordshire. Only 44 of our 258 records were made in the post-2006 period and there are no sightings since 2018. The decline has continued. Over the whole of Britain, a 95 per cent population decrease since 1970 is observed. Some 48 per cent of Hertfordshire map squares from which there have been records no longer seem to support the moth, though not all have been thoroughly searched. Middlesex has not been so well-studied, but an identical trend can be discerned. The moth is associated with Redcurrant and Blackcurrant bushes and in that regard is at least partially synanthropic.

Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required.

Recorded in 26 (63%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1887.
Last Recorded in 2023.
