General comments:
Former vagrant

Richard South disturbed a single moth from herbage growing on a bank by the road-side at Rickmansworth on 31st July 1890 (Entomologist : 291). Foster (1937) lists 'Tring (Elliman)' and 'Nr. Berkhamsted 'in Herts' (Searle teste Benson)'. Neither locality should be taken literally and the map dots are allocated according to the following logic to create a general impression of the former distribution. Tring was generally a euphemism for anywhere within walking distance of Tring Station and typically involved an excursion across Aldbury Nowers to Aldbury and Ashridge via Berkhamsted Common. The fact that it was necessary to specify that the Berkhamsted record was in Hertfordshire, rather than Buckinghamshire, suggests that it was actually Berkhamsted Common; the two reports at least refer to the same general area if not the same site. This is probably the same locality as that for the record given in Hodgson (1939), who reports 'Three in Berkhamsted. The single modern record is from Hastoe Hill, near Tring, during 2012.

The low number of records does not support a formerly held notion that this species has ever been resident in the county.
