General comments:
Extremely local resident / declining. Species of Conservation Concern.

Adult moths are often very difficult to separate from those of Tissue. Older records suggest that this moth was quite widespread in the county in the early part of the twentieth century. However, this is not the case today and the decline is quite likely to be a direct consequence of the deliberate removal of barberry from hedges between then and now - barberry is a host of a fungal disease of cereal crops. If it was not for the fact that cultivated Barberry plants in larger gardens evidently support it just as well as the native plant it would probably be verging on extinction here.
