Local resident, rarely encountered.

This is the least frequently encountered member of the November moth group and it appears to be genuinely very local and rare in our area. We have no foodplant data, but birch is prevalent in the area around all sites where we have a modern record. The apparent absence from the bulk of Middlesex comes as a surprise. Under-recording must surely be in part responsible (remember that all identifications of the group not confirmed by critical examination are rejected outright).
