Yellow-barred Brindle
Acasis viretata

(Hübner, 1799) 1883 / 70.200

General comments:
Widespread resident.

For reasons that are not at all clear, this is the moth most frequently brought to me for identification after the captor has failed to allocate a name (as distinct from species that have been allocated an incorrect name). Moths vary from green to yellow in hue; in worn examples the median fascia becomes more prominent. It is found widely across the county in several different habitat types.
