Brown Silver-line
Petrophora chlorosata

(Scopoli, 1763) 1902 / 70.222

General comments:
Widespread but local resident.

Large tracts of bracken are not a prominent feature of the area, and this probably accounts for the lack of records in the north-east of Hertfordshire and the eastern section of Middlesex. However, it appears that even small patches of the plant in lanes and small woodlands can support a background population of the Brown Silver-line - which may sometimes attend light traps in large numbers on balmy evenings.

Recorded in 34 (83%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1887.
Last Recorded in 2024.
