General comments:
Local resident.

Enormous care must be taken not to confuse this, usually very large, moth with the Pale Pak Beauty examples of which can be near identical. The Great Oak Beauty is confined to the ancient woodlands containing mature oak trees on the clay-based, damper soils in the south of the Herts and the north of Middlesex. They rarely wander; though there are a few reported occasions of undoubted local vagrancy from woodland to nearby gardens.
