General comments:
Extremely infrequent immigrant.

Hertfordshire Notes:
All known Hertfordshire records are listed: Cheshunt, 1859 - 'my nephew W. Boyd, within the first fortnight of this month -. and he did get D. galii into his net, but in his eagerness to secure it safely, it escaped' (Gaviller Entomologist's Weekly Intelligencer : 3); Cheshunt Street, 12th August Boyd (1901) who, curiously, does not list his own earlier record given by Gaviller; Hitchin, one in 1888 (Gatward). In his 1916 paper on the Lepidoptera of North Hertfordshire, foster gives this as 'about the year 1880'; Listed by Bowyer (1888) for the Haileybury College area 'once', for an unspecified date prior to 1888; One was taken at the Walkern searchlight by Brian Waldock, on 28 July 1943, and was 'eagerly swapped by Rev. Greenham for a Convolvulus' (J. Birdsall); Danefield Road, Pirton, 23rd July 1997 (Dug Heath) and Quickswood, 15th July 2003 (Dug Heath). Additional records: Baldock 18 July 2011 (Terry Brown), Cuffley 11 August 2020 (Alan Bolitho)

Middlesex Notes:
Rare immigrant. Nineteenth century records were collated by Plant (1986) and are from Stamford Hill, 1870; Edmonton, larva on Galium verum in 1888; Upper Holloway, July 1888; Clapton, 12th August 1890 and Victoria Park, Hackney, prior to 1898.
