Marbled Brown
Drymonia dodonaea

([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775) 2014 / 71.010

General comments:
Widespread but very local resident.

This species is surprisingly scarce in our county, in stark contrast to the Lunar Marbled Brown with which it shares the same foodplant. It affects the southern half of Hertfordshire, shunning the comparatively tree-free north of the county. It also affects the North London Woodlands whilst largely avoiding the rest of the county. A measure of under-recording might be in play?
