Old records are from Hertford (Stephens, 1829. Illustrations of British Entomology : 100), Sandridge area (Griffith, 1884), Haileybury (Bowyer, 1888), Bricket Wood (Gibbs, 1889), Knebworth (Foster, 1937), Broxbourne, Hitchin, 1867 - 80 (Foster, 1937) and Reddings Avenue, Bushey, 30th August 1968 (Barry Goater). It was quite a surprise to rediscover this species at Bricket Wood on 19th June 2004, with several coming to mv light during a Herts Moth Group recording trip. Perhaps small colonies persist elsewhere in the county? The oldest Middlesex record is from Ruislip Woods, but the two most recent are from garden light traps away from suitable habitat, so perhaps the species is also a bit of a wanderer.
