General comments:
Widespread and common resident.

'Appropriate habitat' appears to be larger, continuous tracts of mature, well-structured woodland where the internal microclimate supports the growth of lichens on branches and trunks. That said, the moth is increasing in range and abundance across both counties in a range of sites that fall short of that ideal.

Recorded in 34 (83%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1887.
Last Recorded in 2024.
