General comments:
Vagrant and recently established resident - expanding its range.

There are a few historical records, but this striking moth was absent for about 60 years until 2010 when it first appeared in the north-west of Hertfordshire. It is now widespread as a breeding resident in the western and north-western sectors and is extending its range eastwards and southwards. It reached the eastern boundary at Bishops Stortford in 2022; the historical record in the tetrad above that containing my garden, refers to a sighting by Clifford Craufurd in 1939. The two modern Middlesex records affect Wembley in 2010 and Acton in 2015.

Recorded in 20 (49%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1904.
Last Recorded in 2023.
