Short-cloaked Moth
Nola cucullatella

(Linnaeus, 1758) 2077 / 74.003

General comments:
Widespread but local resident.

The Short-cloaked Moth is a common visitor to most moth traps, though some newcomers to moth recording may dismiss it as a 'micro'. The lack of reports from the south-east of Middlesex is unexpected; the area affected is more or less "London" and so perhaps the moth has issues with the urban environment?

Recorded in 34 (83%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1896.
Last Recorded in 2024.
