General comments:
Widespread resident.

There can be few properly recorded places in the two counties that do not have this species and generally it is equally well-represented in both the spring and autumn broods. Populations appear to rise and fall drastically and this species was regarded by some as a declining species only a few years ago (e.g., in 2004 there were only a handful of records). These variations seem to be short-lived, however, and we regard the species to be relatively "stable" in our area.
