General comments:
Immigrant and perhaps resident.

One in a Rothamsted light trap at Harpenden in 1960 is, strangely, our only "old" record. The database opens with one at Bishops Stortford in 2009, another in the same town, but separate site, in 2011 and then a few in each of 2017 and 2018 before the moth becomes a regular on multiple dates from 2019 onwards. The early examples were undoubtedly fressh immigrants. However, examples from 2017 onwards do not always coincide with dates of known immigrant activity. Additionally, the flight chart shown appears to show two quite separate generations of adults - rather than random appearance of immigrants. The jury is still out, but this species appears likely to be trying to establish itself as a breeding resident in our area.

Recorded in 25 (61%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1960.
Last Recorded in 2024.
