General comments:
Widespread resident.

Unlike Smoky and Common Wainscots, this species appears to require larger areas of undisturbed grassland and seems unable to thrive in small disturbed patches. Nevertheless, it is common in most of the two counties and wanderers sometimes arrive at garden moth traps.

Recorded in 36 (88%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1887.
Last Recorded in 2024.
