Cucullia umbratica

(Linnaeus, 1758) 2216 / 73.052

General comments:
Widespread but local resident.

The Shark is as likely as not to turn up in garden light traps if they are operated for long enough, though rarely in numbers greater than one or two. It evidently prefers calcareous ground, but is not confined to such areas.

Recorded in 34 (83%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1896.
Last Recorded in 2023.
