General comments:
Widespread but local resident.

Larvae are reported on White Mullein as long ago as 1902 in Batch Wood, St Albans (Barraud, 1903), but more interestingly Foster (1946) records larvae in his garden at Hitchin feeding on Buddleia. Barry Goater also bred this species from a larva on Buddleia in his garden at Bushey in 1978.The adult is usually quite common where found. Examination of the foodplant for larvae is likely to be more productive than light trapping.
