General comments:
Extremely rare resident. Vagrant?

Native Black Poplar appears to be the only suitable foodplant for the larvae of this species and the various hybrid strains that are a feature of parts of the county appear quite unsuitable. These native trees appear to have their headquarters in the Vale of Aylesbury and a few just creep into our area in the extreme west. We have specifically looked for the moth in the west, but the number of occasions has been limited and it remains possible that the moth could be resident there or elsewhere in this western zone. Elsewhere, the occasional reports of single moths may suggest vagrants in at least some cases.
