Heart Moth
Dicycla oo

(Linnaeus, 1758) 2315 / 73.218

General comments:
Extinct resident.

Sadly, this species is probably now extinct in Britain as a whole; it has certainly gone from our area where, apart from a single vagrant example at Harefield in 2008, it was last seen in 1971. In spite of extensive specific searching, in season, from 2000 to 2022, there is no sign of it in any stage of its life-cycle.

Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required.

Recorded in 11 (27%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1903.
Last Recorded in 2008.
