Large Nutmeg
Apamea anceps

([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775) 2333 / 73.157

General comments:
Widespread resident.

The Large Nutmeg is generally far more numerous in towns than it is in open countryside. This may have bearing on the perceived national decline in population reported from the Rothamsted Light Trap Network - most of these traps are sited in a generally rural setting.

Recorded in 33 (80%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1892.
Last Recorded in 2024.
