General comments:
Widespread but rather local resident.

The textbooks tell us that damp grassland, of varying types, is the habitat of this moth, but whilst many records from our area conform to this expectation the moth also has a habit of turning up in garden moth traps where the habitat appears to be unsuitable. Further investigation into this is desirable; our only larval foodplant record was made as long ago as 1902.

Recorded in 31 (76%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1887.
Last Recorded in 2024.
