=Euclidia mi

General comments:
Widespread but local resident.

The Mother Shipton moth takes it name from the markings on the forewings which, if viewed with the outer edge of the wing to the bottom bear an uncanny resemblance to the face of a witch. The adults fly in sunshine over grasslands. It would be surprising if some areas currently lacking records do not also support the moth, but it quite clearly avoids the urban zone of western London.

Recorded in 32 (78%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1887.
Last Recorded in 2023.
