General Comments:
Widespread, but local across both counties and often numerous.

Formerly regarded as extremely rare, but since the creation and widescale availability of artificial pheromone lures for clearwing species it has become apparent that the moth is widespread and numerically common - and almost certainly has always been so.

Modern-day records are almost all from pheromone luring. Lures put out on or near Viburnum bushes are likely to generate adult males in season. Adult emergence seems to be quite well-coordinated across the whole area of the two counties, with London adults appearing on the same day as those in Hitchin! Viburnum plants in town parks and domestic gardens will usually produce this moth if lures are used at the right date.
