Micropterix mansuetella
Wingspan: 8-11 mm.
Flight: May - June.
Nat Status: Local
Verification Grade:  Adult: 1

Hertfordshire Notes:
Local and scarce. Adults recorded in April. The apparent association of our very few recent records of this largely woodland moth with the chalk geology is surprising and perhaps artificial? The older records on the map relate to Wormley Wood/Broxbourne Wood complex (Boyd, 1901) and Panshanger Park where it was noted in 1997 (no voucher seen). A record from the Sandridge area, prior to 1890, cannot be mapped accurately. The adult moths feed on the pollen of oak, Sycamore and perhaps other plants.

Middlesex Notes:
Apparently absent, though it might usefully be looked for along the line of the North London Woodlands as a minimum.

Recorded in 7 (17%) of 41 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1901.
Last Recorded in 2022.
