General comments: Immigrant.
A common, resident species in the Essex/Suffolk coastal zone, its range extends westwards along the north side of the Thames, affecting ruderal ground as far as the River Lea. During the 1970s it could be found in this this maritime environment, but was not, apparently, reported west of the Lea (i.e., in Middlesex). Some recent Middlesex reports might involve wanderers (vagrants) from the Thames area, but Hertfordshire moths are more likely to be primary immigrants. Recorded in 7 (17%) of 41 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1900. Last Recorded in 2019. |
