General comments: Widespread resident.
Some people moan that they never see this moth, but the adults frequently sit on the outside of moth traps, rather than entering them, and so have either flown away or been eaten by birds when the trap operator arrives to examine the catch. It is always best to bring the trap in at first light - even if it is covered over and not examined until a few hours later. Recorded in 35 (85%) of 41 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1887. Last Recorded in 2024. |
