General comments: Widespread resident - Hertfordshire; Extremely local resident - Middlesex.
The reason why this clearly very widespread and common moth should be, apparently, absent from most of Middlesex is unexplained. Skinner (1998) notes that males dominate light trap samples; random sampling suggests that this is indeed the case in Hertfordshire. Recorded in 30 (73%) of 41 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1887. Last Recorded in 2024. |
