Suggestions in earlier reviews that this species might be declining have not been supported by the inflow of records, which suggests a relatively stable population across both counties, but with areas where the moth is not found. The real answer to this might be that the moth, in spite of its size, rarely moves more than a few tens of metres from its foodplant and so is simply not common at light traps.
