General comments: Widespread but local resident.
The Lead-coloured Drab may well be under-recorded since there is possible identification confusion with some forms of Clouded Drab. Positive separation of males in the field is very easy, because the antennae of the Lead-coloured Drab are feathered whilst they comprise a single filament, at least to the unaided eye, in Clouded Drab. However, this does not work for females; examples caught within sight of Aspen trees are always worth showing to someone with greater experience. Recorded in 27 (66%) of 41 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1892. Last Recorded in 2024. |
